Ms sUSan Tan (CHAIR)

Passionate about health promotion with over 2 decades of experience, Susan Tan founded ECI Consulting Holdings - a public health focused social enterprise that empowers individuals in uncovering meaning and purpose in life to pursue happier and healthier lives, as well as educating businesses on how to optimise the environment to elevate happiness in the workplace. Susan is a registered nurse, an educator, a Master Health Coach, and an author who holds a MA in LifeLong Learning from University of London.

In the last 20 years, she has conducted over 1000 training seminars on health, wellbeing, health coaching, aged care and healthcare and audited hundreds of work training programs for the Work Development Agency Singapore (now Workforce Singapore).

She attributes the increasing incidences of chronic diseases to low health literacy coupled with “knowing does not equate to doing”. To increase commitment to the necessary and sustainable behavioural changes for improving health outcomes, Susan created EASY with Susan Health Coaching methodology - combining Motivational Interviewing with social learning theories which she teaches to doctors, nurses and pharmacists at Health Promotion Board Singapore, Institute of Mental Health, National University Polyclinic, Procter & Gamble, etc. She has also spent years lecturing in healthcare at Asia's Leading Medical School,  National University of Singapore (NUS) Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies, Nanyang Technological University of Singapore (NTU) School of Social Sciences and its Ageing Research Institute for Society and Education.

During her term as the President of the Society of Behavioural Health Singapore, she drove the movement to improve the standards of behavioural medicine particularly health coaching and to facilitate the transfer of knowledge and the implementation of the work of researchers and scholars to the practitioners in this field of work.


Dr Fadzil Hamzah

Dr Fadzil Hamzah practises at the Department of Sport and Exercise Medicine in Changi General Hospital and is the operational lead for Singapore Sport and Exercise Medicine Centre at Singapore General Hospital. He also looks after the health of our national athletes in Team Singapore and is a visiting clinician at Singapore Sports Institute. Administratively, Dr Fadzil wears multiple hats in various key health and healthcare organisations. He is the Director of Community Programmes for Exercise is Medicine Singapore (EIMS), as well the Community Director for SingHealth Duke-NUS Sport and Exercise Medicine Centre (SDDC-SEM). At the regional health cluster level, he has also been appointed as the Deputy Director for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention (HPDP) in the SingHealth Office of Regional Health (SORH).

Dr Fadzil is very passionate in promoting fitness, health and physical activity, as well as supporting citizen-centric and last mile service delivery for the underserved and underprivileged in the community. He is a member of the Muslim Healthcare Professionals Association (MHPA) of Singapore and is the healthcare lead for M3 (an alliance of 3 key national Malay organisations -MESRA, Mendaki and MUIS) at Bedok and Tampines towns. In addition, he also serves as a Board Member of Yellow Ribbon Singapore, Mental Health (Care and Treatment) Act, Muslim Trust Fund Association (MTFA) Dialysis Centre and PSB Academy Science Industry Advisory Panel, as well as a grassroots leader in Tampines Central Citizens' Consultative Committee.

A/Professor Zhou Wentao

A/professor ZHOU WENTAO

Associate Professor Zhou is an Associate Professor at the Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies, where she holds the position of Director of Education for Nurses Continuing Education and Training (CET). Additionally, she serves as the Program Director for the Master of Nursing, the sole program in Singapore that offers education for advanced practice nurses (APNs). In her capacity as a registered Advanced Practice Nurse (APN), Dr. Zhou also maintains a joint appointment with the Singapore National Neuroscience Institute (NNI), where she provides care to neuro-disabled patients.

Dr. Zhou plays an active role in the development of APNs, both nationally and internationally. She has led substantial revisions of APN training curricula and collaborated closely with the Singapore Ministry of Health to craft the framework for Advanced Practice Nursing training. She has spearheaded the development of Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs) for APN training, and she has been appointed as the nursing lead for the national collaborative prescribing program (NCPP). The NCPP empowers APNs and pharmacists to prescribe medications, enhancing their scope of practice. She also plays a pivotal role in the initiation of numerous new post-graduate programs, aimed at advancing the field of nursing in Singapore and promoting a robust and sustainable nursing ecosystem.

She serves on the Core Steering Group for the International Council of Nurses (ICN) Nurse Practitioner/Advanced Practice Nurse (NP/APN) network, contributing to the advancement of APN roles on a global scale. She presides as the President of the Sigma Upsilon Eta Singapore Chapter, dedicated to nurturing nursing leadership in Singapore and throughout the Asia region.

Dr. Zhou's research pursuits include APN education, the advancement of APN roles, the development of APN practice models, and the evaluation of APN outcomes. She is a strong proponent of maintaining a healthy nursing workforce and fostering a positive organisational culture. Furthermore, she is a passionate advocate for planetary health and the sustainability of population health.

Dr Kalpana Bhaskaran

Dr Kalpana Bhaskaran is currently the Deputy Director, industry partnerships and Head, Glycemic Index Research Unit at Temasek Polytechnic, Singapore with over two decades of expertise in the field of food and nutrition. She championed the design, planning and implementation of Singapore’s and region’s first accredited Glycemic Index Research Unit. She is currently the Principal Investigator for many nutrition intervention and efficacy trials. As the cluster co-chair for the Nutrition and Health-Tech Cluster, she drives applied research at the institution level. Recognized as an expert advisor to the Ministry of Health, Singapore, Dr. Kalpana has played a pivotal role in key initiatives, including sugar and sodium reduction and the Nutri-Grade label for sugar-sweetened beverages. 

For the past seven years, Kalpana has been an instrumental force in the field of Continuing Education & Training (CET), mooting the idea to start 6 new CET courses tailored for the care industry. Her commitment goes beyond mere course creation; she has actively teaches these modules and ensures that these courses are not just educational but serve as powerful tools for upskilling and reskilling. Her foresight has played a crucial role in making these programs adaptable to the dynamic demands of the industry, reflecting her dedication to providing adult learners with skills that are not only relevant today but also future-proof. Her impact on CET extends far beyond the classroom, influencing the trajectory of her students' careers and shaping the future of the care industry. 

Dr. Kalpana holds leadership positions in various organizations, including serving as the President of the Singapore Nutrition & Dietetics Association and Diabetes Singapore. She is also actively involved in work groups such as the Pro-Tem committee for novel foods and ACE consumer panel. Her influence extends globally as an exco member of the Asian Nutrition Society for Sports and Health (ANSSH) and the Federation of Asian Nutrition Societies (FANS). Her significant contributions have earned accolades, including the National Day commendation award in 2014. Dr Kalpana's resilience and innovative spirit were acknowledged with the "Exemplary Overcomer Award" in 2022, and the "Exemplary Leader Award" for her outstanding leadership in steering diverse teams with excellence in 2023. 

Dr Leonard Leng

DR LEONARD LENG

Dr. Leonard Leng graduated with a Bachelor in Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) degree from the National University of Singapore (NUS). He then obtained his Graduate Diploma in Family Medicine and Master of Medicine in Family Medicine from NUS. Subsequently, he was accredited as a registered Family Physician with the Family Physicians Accreditation Board under the Ministry of Health, Singapore.

With an interest in holistic health and longevity medicine, Dr Leonard pursued extensive training and is now a Board-Certified Lifestyle Medicine Physician by the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. He is also a founding member and Vice-President of the Singaporean Society of Lifestyle Medicine. In his practice, he believes that adopting healthy lifestyle habits is key to preventing and treating diseases, and empowers his patients to institute lifestyle changes to improve their overall health.

Outside of the clinic, he enjoys spending time with his wife and 2 young toddlers, volunteering at his church and listening to podcasts by Peter Attia.

Professor Theng Yi Leng

Professor Theng Yin Leng is President’s Chair in Information Studies, and Professor at the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information, Nanyang Technological University (NTU, Singapore). She is also the Associate Provost (Faculty Affairs) at the President’s Office and Executive Director of the Ageing Research Institute for Society and Education (ARISE). In the area of research, Dr. Theng’s philosophy is about doing scientifically-based experimental Human-Computer Interaction in understanding users and their interactions, especially for Information Systems, in her earlier research on the World Wide Web and Digital Libraries, and with recent focus on interactive systems/devices for the Elderly, Healthcare and Education.

Associate Professor Emily Ortega heads the psychology undergraduate programme at School of Humanities and Behavioural Sciences, Singapore University of Social Sciences. Emily’s main area of research is in psychophysiology and performance. As an experienced Sport Psychologist, Emily has worked with some of Singapore’s best athletes, helping them to achieve their sporting aspirations to consistently perform at their very best in competitions. 

Ms Jenny Ng Ailing

Experienced clinical dietitian turned Programme Chair of Health Management and Promotion, Republic Polytechnic, Jenny has experience in driving improvements and maintaining order within the wide area of health coaching. Offering excellent judgment, strong listening skills and a deep understanding of clinical and community care, She is a strong advocate for education and health coaching.

Ms Bavani Elanggovan

With a background as a molecular neuroscience researcher at Genome Institute of Singapore (A*STAR) and the Singapore Institute for Clinical Sciences (A*STAR), spanning six years, Ms Bavani discovered a calling for people-centric care. Pursuing a Masters in Gerontology, She transitioned into Yishun Health's Population Health and Community Transformation department where she had the opportunity to improve the health and well-being of the population across the entire spectrum. Her portfolio included managing health coaches, conducting coaching sessions, and fostering resilient communities. Collaborating with primary schools, she promoted healthy habits from a young age. Currently, as a lecturer at Temasek Polytechnic, she strives to inspire young minds and groom future leaders in gerontology, consolidating her journey from research to community health empowerment.

Ms Fu Jiating

Fu Jiating is currently appointed Course Manager with the School of Business and Services, Wellness and Health Services Cluster at the Institute of Technical Education, College West. She has a diverse educational background in biomedical science, hospitality, and tourism management. Jiating has managed portfolios in Medical Tourism, Event Management, Patient Management and Services, and Sport & Fitness Management throughout her career. Before joining ITE, she worked as a Professional Conference Organiser, specializing in Medical Conferences, Events, and Exhibitions. She has over 18 years of experience in the education, medical, and healthcare sectors.

At ITE, Jiating leads a department of academic professionals in health and exercise coaching, contributing extensively to preventive health initiatives and steering industry projects for various demographics. As a teaching academic herself, she envisions her students pursuing meaningful and fulfilling careers in the health and wellness coaching sector. Additionally, she oversees the Life Support Training Centre in College West, providing Standard First Aid Certification and CPR and AED Certifications accredited by the Singapore Resuscitation and First Aid Council (SRFAC).
